Meeting Re-Cap 11/21/15
Meeting Re-Cap: The November meeting was held at the home of Dan Hakes, WASH club President. Great beer with some munchies on the side. A good day in West Adams!
At the October meeting we chose a temporary logo and ask for more ideas. No ideas were brought forth, so we voted again. The same logo was chosen as our official club logo. The logo on the website is now official.
Speaking of the website, Carrie has set ours up, and it’s great. Please check it out at http://www.westadamshomebrewers.com. If you have ideas or suggestions for the website, please let us know.
Our first WASH party will be held at Bill Judson’s house on January 16th, please brew beer for the party. This will be a potluck event, so plan on bringing food too.
We talked about the Southern California Homebrewer’s Festival. This is an awesome event. It’s held at Vail Lake Resort in Temecula, CA and will be on the weekend of April 29 – 30. Bill has reservations for a campsite and is wiling to share space, Let him know if you’re interested. More details about the festival can be found at SCHF.
We are going to start a monthly social event, and we’re calling it the Suds Search. We will be visiting breweries, brewpubs and beer bars in the area. So many new locations have opened up and we need to get out and support our local brewers. For December we are going to go to Southland Beer. They are just getting opened and will be having their grand opening on December 5. We decided to go early and will be meeting there at 1:00 PM.
Ned filled in for Raphael and gave the Treasurers report. We had 7 people pay their dues in October which gives us an opening balance of $210.00.
3 more memberships were sold which brings us to $300.00. Some money was spent on the commercial beer tasting.
The meeting’s Beer tasting was BJCP Style #30A, Spiced Beer. We had examples of all the substyles from this category – 30A – Spice, Herb or Vegetable Beer, 30B – Autumn Seasonal Beers, and 30C – Winter Seasonal. A very nice selection to sample. A standout for me was the Stone Brewing Xocovesa, a milk stout with spices found in Mexican hot chocolate.
See you next Month!
